This rare very early print is from the series
“Flor de Pascua,” or “Pascal Flower”.

This is the first great set of prints that captured the themes Escher would work with for all his life. The contrasts and patterns in this woodcut are remarkable and reflect the influence of Asian art. The enigmatic title is one of the strangest in all of Escher's work and refers to the powerful relationship between an artist and his patron.
